One of the last stops before the national monument, our Flagstaff hotel is near the Grand Canyon, one of America’s most visited National Parks.
227 miles long and 18 miles wide, the Grand Canyon is one of the most interesting natural wonders in the United States. The immense red-rock Canyon is a spectacular sight to see, revealing millions of years of geological history. Regarded as sacred ground to a number of Native American tribes, archeologists have found evidence of human occupation in the area, dating back almost 12,000 years ago. As one of the only known sites of the ancient Paleoindian tribe, the Grand Canyon is more than just a stunning landscape.
Visited by over 5 million people every year, the Grand Canyon is divided into a North and South Rim. The South Rim of the Grand Canyon is the most visited and most accessible section of the Canyon, and is open year-round. Also located at the South Rim of the Canyon, guests will find Grand Canyon Village, a historic village that features a visitor center, a lookout point, a plaza which has a general store, bank, and post office, as well as a historic district which has maintained the railroad depots and lodges that once adorned the area in the pioneer days. The South Rim is where you’ll find tour buses that will take you on a journey around the Canyon, providing guests with information and history of this iconic landmark. The North Rim, which is closed throughout the winter season, only attracts 10% of all Grand Canyon visitors, mostly guests who want to experience the “other side” of the Grand Canyon.
